It is a convenience for visitors to Ho Chi Minh City that it’ s only airport is located inside the city. The location of the airport makes it very easy to travel from it to your desired destination, by local bus 109, shuttle bus or private transfer, whatever is more appropriate for you.
1. High quality bus #109
From Tan Son Nhat Airport, you can take a bus 109 at Column 15 (International Terminal) or Column 18 (Domestic Terminal). Bus 109 connects popular sites, including Ben Thanh Market and the backpackers’ area.
This bus is opening from 5:30am to 1:30am of the following day, with a frequency of 15 – 20 minutes/trip, the travelling time of the trip is about 45 minutes.
Price: The fare for the service is VND 20,000 ($0.9) for journeys over 5km and VND 12,000 ($0.54) for those under 5km.

2. Local public bus # 152
The cheapest way to transport is to take public city Bus # 152 parking few steps away on the right side from the Arrival’s entrance. Bus will drop you off Pham Ngu Lao street (the south side of the Ben Thanh Market)- The heart or Ho Chi Minh city.
- Price: 5000 dong (0.3 cent) per person and big luggage.
- Schedule: bus runs every 20 minutes from 6 am to 6pm.

How to get bus 152: Upon exiting the airport, turn right and walk towards the domestic airport. There in front of the airport across a small road you will find the bus waiting there. It is opposite to Burger King restaurant. Find the signing pointing to the bus stop or ask a uniformed guard to find it.
3. Use Sasco taxi coupon at Tan Son Nhat International airport
Travelling by taxi is the most convenient way between the airport and your hotel. When you exit the terminal, you will first see taxis from this company called Sasco. Usually, there are taxi touts who will ask for your destination and give you a note with taxi number. They costs slightly more than other taxi companies like Vinasun and Mai Linh, which can be found waiting for passengers some 500m further out into the parking lot.

Where to buy taxi coupon: It is located near by Exchange counter. It is just after the custom declaration.
Tips: Make sure the driver understands exactly which hotel you are staying at or you may be taken elsewhere.
4. Taxi in Tan Son Nhat Airport
There are a lot of taxi companies for you to choose. If you are not very familiar with the city or being the first time traveler, take a taxi at Tan Son Nhat airport. There are 3 types of Tan Son Nhat Airport taxis: Yellow taxis, White Airport taxis, and Saigon taxis. Most taxis are metered, but be careful of overcharging which is common. Expect the driver to insist that the meter is not used and to negotiate a fixed price
Taxi fare is based on the distance and en route waiting time. Taking a taxi to the airport usually costs the same as leaving it. As usual, it costs from 150,000 to 170,000 dong to travel from the airport to District 1.
Be careful to make sure you are not being ripped off. Remember to get a metered taxi and be noted that you will have to pay additional 10,000/15,000 for airport exit toll fee. It is also advised that you should not bargain with drivers. Always have them turn the meters on, as this is always the cheapest option.
The ride to the city centre takes from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the traffic.
- Note that there is a toll of VND 5000 outside the airport that will be paid by the driver and should not be added to your bill (hidden in the metered or fixed fare rate).
- Write down in Vietnamese your hotel address to avoid misunderstandings.
5. Private airport transfer
If you are arriving late at night, have heavy luggage, with children or simply be a first-time traveler, you may use a chauffeur arranged through a private transfer service. One trip to the city costs a fixed price of 400,000 dong.
Uber is available in Ho Chi Minh. Rates to the airport at off peak times cost around 100,000VND, including the 10,000 of airport drop off fee that is automatically added to your bill.
